Analysis 1070

Artifact Analysis

The SB 1070 was a brief movement so the biggest artifact was a photo of a group of people with an interesting banner. There are multiple messages and I’m going to analyze and talk about them all.

The first poster has an interesting message that we can go back to. Brown skin is not a crime is one of the protest symbols.  Since the law describes immigrants with brown skin to be suspicious and Illegal this slogan sounds accurate.  Lets go back to the 1960s ounce again when African Americans were discriminated because is a similar situation. The similar situation is putting human beings in jail without citizenship that look suspicious. Ounce again unecery judgment the facts are hidden with an illogical punishment. This outrages the immigrant protest ester because it’s unconstitutional towards all the Arizona Civilians.

Poster number 2 is more basic with a fact we all know. America was founded by immigrants witch is really true. Back in the 1700s a lot of immigrants came to the United States for a new Life. To be honest ounce upon a time immigrants from other countries owned parts of the united state witch they later sold to the United States. Speaking of that what’s really ironic about the movement is that ounce upon a time Mexico owned Arizona New Mexico and Texas to think the land they use to own is discriminating them. That is an accurate fact but just because they have brown skin doesn’t mean their criminals for all the deportation. Most of the American society is made up of immigrants.

All these protesters standing up to the government fighting for Human rights not just racism but Human.  What they mean by that according to the summary instant deportation and incrimination towards all the immigrants with no defense breaking the first amendment of the constitution.   No freedom of speech press and petition.  They are taking their jobs away or no hire privalages.   One way to weaken someone is by taking away all his or her rights to live in a territory.

Even the peacekeepers are violating every single law that they pledged at the academy.   It makes the public angry that the so-called cops that were protecting are now arresting and deporting innosant people. They all think their protecting but they are doing the exact opposite.

About a month later the bill spread to ten states forcing a lot of people to relocate. Lets go to the other side of the identity witch is the government.  There are some supporters.  The government makes it sound like they’re cleaning up Arizona eliminating all the threats to the country blaming all the Immigrants for all their problems.  I had a theory that the government though Mexico was taking all their land back after a hundred years.

To conclude my analysis I will say that the symbols filled with ethos are on all the posters.  Showing how everybody feels thinks and declares.  The firth identity thinks there doing a good deed cleaning up and second the protest call them all racist inhuman and unconstitutional.  So this symbol is mostly based on emotion and mistreatment. The law may be gone but the movement is not over.

R Draft

Rhetorical Draft

The SB 1070 bill was passed to weed out all the immigrants that aren’t supose to be here.  The identity that caused this action was the government meaning the Arizona senate.
The other identity would be the other side of the conflict the protesting immigrants. This protest works through both sides.

This Movement has a lot of key   points    to explain. The bill states “Prohibits state and local law enforcement from restricting the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
. Requires law enforcement, in making a lawful stop, detention, or arrest for another law, to make a reasonable attempt to determine the person's immigration status where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is not lawfully present in the country.
Creates a new misdemeanor offense for the willful failure to complete or carry an immigrant registration document under certain circumstances.
Authorizes a peace officer involved in enforcement related to human smuggling to lawfully stop anyone in a motor vehicle on reasonable suspicion that the person is violating a civil traffic law that creates misdemeanor offenses, in certain circumstances, for stopping to hire and pick up passengers for work while blocking traffic, or getting hired in such a fashion, and applying for or soliciting work while unlawfully present in the country.
This act creates misdemeanor offenses (or felonies if 10 or more illegal immigrants are involved) for unlawfully transporting or concealing an illegal immigrant or encouraging one to enter or remain in the country illegally.
This authorizes a peace officer to arrest a person without a warrant on probable cause that the person has committed a public offense that makes the person removable from the country.
This requires employers to keep employee eligibility records for three years or the duration of employment
It allows employers to raise an affirmative defense of entrapment to a charge of knowingly or intentionally employing unauthorized immigrants.
While adding to the list of reasons a peace officer must remove and either immobilize or impound a vehicle.”

Do to the law the protesters felt violated of their rights? The law states that unauthorized immigrants cat be employed.  Employers will have to check their records to make sure that they’re able get a job. Another one of the statements states that if a immigrant looks suspicious of committing an offense and getting deported without a trial.  Its based on all that I remember the day that governor Brower was going to sign the bill a lot of immigrants were protesting outside.

Thanks to our president the bill was eliminated and the protest was over or so we thought. 4 years later a stock govnernor named Donald Trump decided to bring back the argument but this time he went further insulting the citizens that use to be immigrants. At first we were all offended but then when he decided to run for president the movement rose up ounce again and still going on today.
This movement is still powerful as ever.  Since the SB1070 started all this in the first place the movement will always go on until everything is balance with the same rights.

Historical Context 1070

Historical Context

This type of protest has been going around history through difficult situations but its based on the same gesture. Ever since the 1700’s   this great country has had to fight for rights ad freedom.  Its been going through different era’s to understand the whole context you would have to study ad look through history all leading to the 1070 bill.

Throughout history people have protested for different things hat would lead up to there. Lets start I the 1860’s. The beginning of the struggles for the African Americans. Slavery was necessary and demanded. For our dear slaves running away and protests were really consequential. It all came to beatings and terror. Our dear president   opposed slavery. Due to his actions the civil war started. Luckily the 13th amendment ended most of the whole thing and all the slaves were free or so they thought. At this time freedom can mean different things that we will come back to in a little bit. During that time there was another different protest going along involving the ladies. This protest was against giving them the right to vote due to all that. Later I the cent after WW1 the freedom issue with the African Americans was being questioned due to some issues. I’m talking about the civil rights movement the African Americans may not be slaves anymore but they were really mistreated.  There were really good examples for the resistance like Rosa Parks Malcolm X and the leader of all Movements Martin Luther King Jr.   For 40 years everything was good people came and went to the United States. But in 2001 the tragedy of 911 struck and the discrimination started ounce again.  This time it was for the Immigrants or aliens that came to the United States.  A decade later they created the SB 1070 to weed out all the Immigrants. Today the bill may be goes but the movement continues.
In the SB 1070 Protest there isn’t any exact leaders its just a bunch off differ people protesting to the government.  The only leader through out time that stood up high was Martin Luther king Jr. during the 1960’s MLK was leading the movement witch got him thrown in jail and later assassinated.

The main goal of a protest is to perused and reason I any situation big or small doesn’t matter you just got to balance the scale in my opinion.  Most protests are things strikes arguments disagreements but there a had full of important protests based on right discrimination religion anything violating the first amendment of the constitution.

What’s funny thing is that the movement is still going on but in a different way even after the law got revoked the public still outraging there’s still discrimination but this time the protest expanded because now its involving race and religion

Finally   I’m going to conclude with this each protest in the historic timeline has been a piece of the 1070 building it up more.  But to be honest most of the country is made up of Immigrants who came for a better life. Its start from the 1700s to slavery women right civil rights and a lot more.  Most of us are decedents of them all. Every era expands our society. So if it weren’t for our previous protests this one right here would have never been created.

Feedback Forms

Questions for everyone to answer about each paper:

1. Is the historical context elaborate enough to understand the protest and why it happened?

2. Are the first two sections organized in a way that is the most effective and clear?

3. Is the distinction between historical and rhetorical context clear and does the distinction make sense?

4. Is the evidence used appropriate and effective?

When we edit each others rough drafts, we need to answer these questions for each paper. In addition, we each need to post a question (in the comments section) that you want answered about your paper. Then, when others edit your paper, that specific question will be answered by each of us in addition to the four questions above.

For example, my question is:

Libby: Is my historical context too elaborate/wordy? Is there some history I should take out to make my point clearer?

Precis exercise

The american immigration council wrote an article  of the affects that the 1070 law had on immigrants. they said that severaL  organizations  and business associations   challenged the SB 1070.   They all claimed that this violated the first amendment. The council gives a specific analysis of who got involved in the protest and why it happened.  they also covered the process on how the bill was created.

Research question

How did Hispanic immigrants impacted the  SB1070 protest?

Topic Exploration

This protest has no name but it was part of the immigration movement that was going on at the time.   This law came to pass in Arizona   incriminating Immigrants. The Arizona Senate passed this law. This was passed 6 years ago and it got signed by the Arizona Governor this scared a lot of people.   Meanwhile Obama was trying to revoke the 1070 law and trying his best to start an immigration reform.

The 1070 bill was assaulting a lot of Immigrants out of nowhere. There was a lot of Panic ad outrage.   A lot of Immigrants that had good businesses here had to flee leave town get out of Arizona   moved to the other states    to stay away from the state   and avoid the actual 1070 law. This law. Prohibits state and local law enforcement from restricting the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
. Requires law enforcement, in making a lawful stop, detention, or arrest for another law, to make a reasonable attempt to determine the person's immigration status where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is not lawfully present in the country.

The immigration movement started to protest outside of the Governor’s office after she signed the Document for the law to pass. They stood outside shouting saying this was an act of discrimination and outrage. Over 400 immigrants stayed there protesting for 3 days. Luckily for us President Obama terminated the law and started a piece of the immigration reform but still the movement is still at work today. This time the movement also involve citizens of one race the Hispanic race joined forces because even without the law its gotten out of line.  It involves an enterprise owner named Donald Trump who is running for president this year. Last year Trump insulted all Latinos calling them delinquents drug dealing immigrants he started a war and the movement rose to the surface especially because Trump is running for president the pleasure is of but we still don’t know the outcome and when the movement will end.

This project is a little challenging for me based on a law that got terminated even though the movement still goes on. What worries me is the amount of research that will be done and found on the law. Now that the movement is stronger than ever people think that the republican candidates will raise t from the dead. The 1070 identity is still tied to the movement but all the evidence will be hard to find.
