In an article title, “Women Strike for Peace, 1961-1975,”
creators Elizabeth Matlock and Wendy Chmielewski outline in a brief summary the
history of the organization Women Strike
for Peace and the different movements they were a part of. Matlock and Chmielewski
use historical facts as well as photos taken by the leader of WSP Dorothy
Marder to give a quick summary of the events that took place during the WSP’s
existence. The apparent purpose of the article is to honor the work of Marder
as well as a memorial to the WSP in order to raise awareness of the historical
significance they played a part of. The intended audience is for Americans,
specifically women, who are interested learning more about the Women Strike for
Peace movement.
