Orme Dam Protest


Who/What:In the early 1970's the Yavapai Tribe of Fort McDowell protested the Federal Government on building a dam just south of their boarders. The dam would have caused massive flooding to the Tribal land, and would have caused the Yavapai people to relocate.

When: In the early 1970's

Where: Fort Mcdowell Reservation, Fort Mcdowell, Arizona (Scottsdale, Arizona)

Why: The dam would have caused massive flooding to the area on which the Yavapai people lived on.

The identity of this piece represents  a Nation of people, specifically the Yavapai Tribe of Fort McDowell, Arizona. The Yavapai tribe is a Sovereign Nation and a Nation of Native American Indians.
