Précis: Widerstand
Eric Brothers, the Jewish writer who wrote the historical novel Berlin Ghetto: Herbert Baum and the Anti-Fascist Resistance (2012), highlights the motives and origins of many youth anti-Nazi resistors in Germany during World War II. Brothers argues for the importance of young anti-fascists through anecdotal evidence discussed by his main character, a real anti-Nazi protestor from World War II, Herbert Braum. The author intends to tell the story of German youth during the Nazi regime and show their importance in order to argue for their importance as well as preserve the German identity of those who were German citizens in World War II, since the identity was heavily tarnished with the Nazi's reputation. Brothers intends for this story to be read by those who want to know more about the anti-Nazi resistance and those who may think about World War II Germany as solely inhabited by Nazis and sympathizers. He wrote this book to establish a connection between Herbert Braum and the reader by chronicling his actions and resistance work. This will be a great secondary source for learning about some of the main players in the resistance.
