1. So the protest that I am focusing on is the case against Proposition 8, which was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court after the U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker became the first federal judge in the history of the United States to rule that a state-level gay marriage ban violated the U.S. Constitution. His order overturning California’s Proposition 8 and restoring marriage equality was, it later turned out, the last valid ruling on the merits of the case. The trial was a momentous event, a profound investigation into anti-gay animus and its place in the law. Its outcome marked the first domino in what would soon be a cascade of pro-gay-marriage rulings. And the legal theories that stood behind Walker’s ruling would soon be echoed in courtrooms in every state in the union.

2. I think that there are a couple identities tied into this movement. One would be the LGBT community and the other would just be families. This movement in many ways was about families and the women, men, and children that were all affected.

3. So the "group" involves quite a few people. Fist were the two gay and lesbian couples who were brave enough to be the face of the negativity of Prop 8, and who were also brave enough to take on the lawsuit and testify in front of the Supreme Court. The other people within the group were the two lawyers, dubbed the "odd couple dream team" Ted Olson and David Boies.

4. I think one thing that I am concerned about is being able to find enough information. Yes, this was a big case, but it was also a very recent case. I am worried there has not been enough scholarly articles or really good analysis done about the topic since it is so fresh. I've been really looking for solid sources, but I am a little concerned that I will not be able to find enough to write a good and thorough paper.
