Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament 1983

Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament 1983

CND Protesters 1983

The largest Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament movement was held in London 1983. Approximately 1 million protesters participated.  CND advocates had predicted an even larger turn out of 2 million, but that never happened.

The purpose of the CND movement was to oppose the use of nuclear missiles being held in London. The Nuclear missiles were being held in Greenham London as a safety precautionary reaction to the strength of the Soviet Army.  (BBC)
