Uber Protest
Uber launched its private taxi hiring service in 2009. It has been very successful in its competition with taxi companies.

A number of taxi drivers, loyal to their companies, have formed Anti-Uber protest groups in hopes to change Uber's "unfair" economic advantages. Some of these advantages include: loopholes around a taxi driver's legal requirements and better pay.
Just by general observation, it looks like the most persistent Anti-Uber protesters live in France. January 26th this picture showed up on Twitter.com (this is just one example). A group of taxi drivers took some tires and lit them on fire in the middle of the road, swat had to intervene.
