What/Who: Westboro Baptist Church is an infamous protest group that holds the belief that God hates America due to new age values and media; especially the facets of Western culture that advocate and normalize sexuality. They say that soldiers fighting for America are just as evil as America itself, because they fight for a sinful cause. They actually are being protested by less extremist groups for misrepresenting the word of God, and for causing grief to the loved ones of dead soldiers. Many Counter-Protesters are huge David Bowie fans, and don't want his memorial concert to be ruined by infamous extremists.
Where: Though Westboro Baptist Church has made debuts across America and has gained much infamy for their views, this particular Counter-Protest takes places at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This is because that venue is where the David Bowie Memorial Concert will take place, and where the church plans on protesting.
Why: Many people are sick of Westboro Baptist Church's protests, and there have been Counter-Protests staged before for the Church. This particular Counter-Protest is mainly because David Bowie fans don't want signs posted at his memorial concert that vividly explain Bowie's torture in Hell, and how happy the Church is that he is dead.
The Counter-Protesters identify with the exact opposite of those views held by the Wesboro Baptist Church, which probably encompasses most of the American population. This is a difficult identity, because, unlike most arguments, this one seems to lack a horseshoe effect, which means it doesn't take an extremist to discredit these extremists.
