
Who/What: Near a million protester, most of which were students, took to the streets of Tianamen, China in May 1989 to protest for more rights such as more freedom of the press, and more democratic voting system. The protest lasted almost three weeks, until the Government took action with rolling out military tanks which they used to roll over protesters and the military also shot and killed 300 and maybe even thousands. Nobody but the Government knows exactly how many died.

Why: Many of the protesters felt that the Government had become too controlling and the citizens were not being able to have a say. They wanted more of a democratic system where they could have a voting system and a say.
The identity of this protest is that the Government in this situation at this time were too controlling and the citizens felt that they were loosing a say in what was going on in their country.
